LOST Theory of the Week: Who is Jacob?

Since Lost is coming back on the air, I am going to publish weekly theories on where the show is going and its greatest mysteries. This theory is about who is Jacob?

Jacob appeared in the episode The Man Behind the Curtain last season when Ben took Locke to the cabin. While in the cabin, the "invisible" Jacob could be heard saying "help me" to only Locke. Now, turn your attention to the embedded video...

This video is the final "Missing Piece" that ABC has been releasing for the past 13 weeks. Now, my theory is that Jacob is actually Christian Shephard. Biblically, Jacob is the farther of the Twelve Tribes of Israel and the father of Benjamin. If Christian is in fact Jacob, then he is the father of the two tribes of the island; the Losties (by being the father of their leader; Jack), and the Others (by "leading" Ben). However, I do not believe that Jacob is leading the Others either. I believe that Jacob is being held captive by Benjamin in order to maintain his status as the leader of the Others. However, Christian was at one time leading the entire process of the island, since many characters "has work to do" or "weren't supposed to do this/that". This will go with my theory next week very well, but for now, just know that my theory is Jacob is Christian Shephard.
