With the success of the iPod and iPhone, Apple seems ready to conquer the video game market; especially the handheld market. According to Kotaku, on February 5th, Apple updated their trademark to include "Toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games."
Now, we will have to see how Apple will stand up to the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately for Apple, the video game market is highly dependent on third parties; something Apple is not 100% kosher with as seen with games for the MacOS and iPhone.
