I will chime in on this topic slightly (after all, this is an opinion blog). I definitely voted no in this poll. I mean, even if people had record deals before the competition, there's a reason they don't have one now?? Either the record company dropped them, fizzled away, or something that they are no longer with them. I don't believe you receive unfair treatment until you reach the point that you're a superstar (which, obviously, none of them were). Therefore, I agree with "no".
